How To Hide Excel Worksheets More Securely | Hide and Unhide Excel Sheets | dptutorials



1. Sometimes you would like to hide your worksheets. that means you don't want others to see some of your sheets in your excel workbook

2. To do that, we generally hide the sheets by simply right clicking and choosing hide option.

3. If I want to hide multiple sheets, i select the multiple sheets by pressing the Ctrl button and then right click to select hide option.

4. To unhide these hidden sheets, we again right click on any of the sheet tab and select the option unhide to unhide the sheets one by one.

5. So, Even Others can do the same of unhiding your sheets, which you have thought of hiding  from other users.

6. So, if your friend gets to know that you are hiding some important sheets in the workbook that your are sharing, he might always right click and get the hidden sheets easily.

7. Now, lets see how we can hide the sheets more securely. First, Press ALT+F11 or right click on any sheet and choose the view code option. you will be landing to the Visual Basic  window.

8. Here you can see all the names of the sheets. I will click on any sheet here, notice the lower portion of the screen, we have got properties window.

9. Here as i have clicked on Sheet1, you can see below that  the screen says visible in the last attribute of properties window  as we move down with the down arrow, look at the bottom of the screen, it again says visible.

10. If you again go down to another sheet i.e Sheet3, you will notice in the properties window saying hidden.

11. Now in the lower portion,click the drop down menu for sheet hidden, here's a choice called sheet very hidden. select that. now go back to the excel workbook and again right click on any sheet and choose unhide option and now you can't see the sheet by name Sheet3, which we have hidden securely with the new option.

12. Unless and until, the other user knows about the visual basic window he can't unhide your sheet any more.
